Position Duties & Responsibilities

The Junior Accountant will assist the Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting audits and reporting requirements. This role ensures compliance with school policies, statutory requirements, and best practices in accounting while supporting the smooth daily functioning of the finance team.

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system
  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes, including vendor invoices and fee collections
  • Maintain proper documentation of vouchers, receipts, and bills
     

Reconciliations & Reporting

  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and petty cash
  • Support in generating periodic financial reports for review by the Finance Manager/COO
  • Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis
     

Compliance & Statutory Support

  • Support in preparing GST, TDS, PF/ESI, and other statutory filings
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and school policies
  • Maintain records required for audits and inspections
     

Audit & Inventory Support

  • Assist auditors during internal and external audits
  • Support inventory and asset verification processes in coordination with other departments
     

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information
  • Participate in professional development and training sessions as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, or COO

Knowledge & Skills

  1. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  2. Strong knowledge of Indian taxation, including GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and related compliance.
  3. Proficiency in Google Sheets, and accounting software (Zoho/ Tally/QuickBooks/ERP preferred)
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  5. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly
  7. Ability to work effectively with a multicultural clientele
  8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  1. Demonstrated lifelong learner
  2. Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (M.Com or equivalent)
  3. Preference given to candidates pursuing or holding professional certifications such as CA Inter, CMA Inter, or MBA in Finance
  4. 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in schools, international organizations, or non-profits
  5. Fresh graduates with strong academic background and internship experience may also be considered
