Definitions

AISC Institutional Data

AISC Institutional Data is a generalized term that typically represents data classified as Confidential or Non-confidential. This term is often used interchangeably with sensitive and personal data. Institutional Data is defined as all data created, owned, or licensed by AISC.

Confidential/Protected Data

Data should be classified as Confidential/Protected when the unauthorized disclosure, alteration or destruction of that data could cause a significant level of risk to AISC, or if it would violate a right to privacy of any AISC community member. The highest level of security controls should be applied to Confidential/Protected data.

Non-confidential Data

Data should be classified as Non-confidential when the unauthorized disclosure, alteration or destruction of that data would result in little or no risk to AISC and members of its community.

Policy

AISC acknowledges its responsibility to respect the confidentiality of student, parent and staff records, and for members of the AISC Community to securely handle AISC data such as, but not limited to, photos, videos, official school records, student assessments, or anecdotal notes.
Student-specific and AISC institutional data (e.g. MAP data, literacy assessment results, or attendance records) will be transmitted only between AISC approved systems and people unless permission is granted by a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

AISC ensures that data on individual students is not created, collected, stored, maintained, or disseminated in violation of this policy.

AISC will not share confidential data with any third party, including other schools, unless required to provide educational services and meet the educational needs of our students. When students transfer to other schools, all data will be transferred through the sectional principal and the responsible administrative personnel who will comply with AISC student data sharing policy. When students apply for university or internships, students and families provide consent and permission for AISC to supply the third party with any confidential records and information.

Student, parent and staff data will only be accessed for students, parents or staff who demonstrate a legitimate purpose and will be used for the sole aim of improving student achievement and advancing the Mission.

AISC Institutional data will not be stored on any personal computer and/or external devices that are not password protected and AISC approved. (External devices include but are not limited to USB/thumb drives and external hard drives.)

Confidential data – including but not limited to student personal information, parent personal information, grades, or test scores – may not be stored outside its secure container (e.g. Powerschool) in any cloud storage other than the AISC Google Drive.

Any questions or concerns regarding this policy should be sent to [email protected].
