Athletics
AISC believes in offering a wide array of extracurricular opportunities to students, and striving for competitive excellence while encouraging the highest levels of sportsmanship and fair play. Students at AISC have an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of Activities and Athletics at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels.
An integral part of our activities at AISC is our Arts, Sports and Activities (ASA) Program. The major focus of the ASA Program is to offer safe opportunities that encourage children from Early Years 5 through grade 8 to explore and participate in activities that promote skill-building, critical thinking, cross-cultural friendships, and the development of teamwork. ASAs runs on a quarterly basis comprising approximately 8-week sessions.
In our middle school athletics program, we strive to promote healthy competition and to embody the highest ideals of sportsmanship and respect. Participation, performance and competition in the athletic program will focus on the opportunity for students to develop and exhibit skills to the best of their abilities. The American Schools in India Activities Conference (ASIAC) consists of The American School of Bombay, American Embassy School - New Delhi, and the American International School Chennai.
Our middle school has a robust program for arts and other activities as well. Model United Nations, theater performances, music, robotics, clubs, and other activities ensure programs for nearly every interest.
At the high school level, AISC is a member of the SAISA Conference which is made up of international schools in the Indian subcontinent, Jordan, and Oman which have English as a medium of instruction and follow an American based system of education. All of these schools compete against each other in sports and engage in a variety of activities including; music, art, leadership and academic games.
Throughout the various seasons, AISC also competes with a variety of local schools in and around Chennai. At the conclusion of each season, our teams compete in a season-ending SAISA Tournament at the high school level and the ASIAC Tournament at the middle school level. High School teams typically practice after school and middle school teams before school. Most competitions are held during the week, but there are occasional weekend commitments.
Clubs are a huge part of many students’ experiences at AISC. The portal for clubs provides information on all active clubs. Other activities include theater productions, Model United Nations, art, music and many other co-curricular activities that students can pursue.
