Welcome to AISC Athletics & Activities
The American International School Chennai believes in offering a wide array of athletic opportunities to students striving for competitive excellence while encouraging the highest levels of sportsmanship and fair play. Students at AISC have an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of Activities and Athletics at the high school (Varsity), middle school and elementary school levels.
An integral part of our activities at AISC is our Arts, Sports and Activities (ASA) program. The major focus of the ASA is to offer safe opportunities that encourage children from Early Years 5 through grade 8 to explore and participate in events that promote skill-building, critical thinking, cross cultural friendships and the development of teamwork. ASA runs on a semester basis comprising of 16 weeks each semester.
In our Middle School Athletics program, we strive to promote healthy competition and to embody the highest ideals of sportsmanship and respect. Participation, performance and competition in the athletic program will focus on the opportunity for students to develop and exhibit skills to the best of their abilities. The American Schools in India Activities Conference (ASIAC) consists of The American School of Bombay, American Embassy School - New Delhi and The American International School - Chennai.
At the high school level, AISC is a member of the SAISA conference which is made up of international schools in the Indian sub-continent, Sri Lanka and Oman which have English as a medium of instruction and follow an American based system of education. All of these schools compete against each other in sports and engage in a variety of activities including; music, art, leadership and academic games.
Throughout the various seasons, AISC also competes with a variety of local schools in and around Chennai. At the conclusion of each season our teams compete in a season ending SAISA Tournament at the varsity level and the ASIAC Tournament at the middle school level. Our athletic teams practice every day except Thursday. High School teams typically practice after school and middle school teams before school. Most competitions are held during the week, but there are occasional weekend commitments.
