The Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) is an international, non-profit, non-sectarian, politically neutral organisation dedicated to the promotion of excellence at all levels of music education. Its objectives are to advance the education of school pupils and teachers throughout the world by developing their understanding, knowledge and appreciation of music; to advance the education of young people and their teachers in global issues and cultural diversity through the performance and study of music; to promote high standards of musical performance in school pupils of all ages and abilities throughout the world; to promote furtherance of educationally valuable music repertoire. The Executive Director of AMIS is Keith Montgomery.
Tony Mudra teaches vocal and general music in the primary, middle and high school at the International School of Stavanger, Norway. While at ISS, he has served as music department head, curriculum leader and comusic director for the school’s musical productions. Prior to Norway, Mr. Mudra taught vocal music in Wisconsin and Minnesota, where his choirs performed at select musical conferences and events. Additionally, Tony sang baritone in the nationally recognized professional choir, The Singers—Minnesota Choral Artists. Mr. Mudra conducted the 2015 AMIS European Middle School Honor Boys’ Choir in London. An accomplished pianist, he has also served as accompanist for AMIS honor choir festivals in China, Belgium, and France. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Luther College, where he studied conducting and sang under the direction of Weston Noble.
