Dear Prospective Parents and Students,

As billions around the world utilize technological platforms to flourish, here at AISC we are proud to be able to continue inspiring a love of learning in our students and fostering a sense of connectedness for our entire community. Since March 23, 2019, and for the remainder of the 2019–2020 and most of the 2020–2021 academic years, AISC has thrived in virtual and hybrid learning. On November 1, 2021, as per local government directives, we welcomed learners in Grades 1 to12 back to their cherished learning spaces here on our AISC campus.

Our world-class faculty is the engine of success for our school and we are prepared to provide flexible, sustainable programs to support the continuous learning of our students. We are nimble and have every intention of providing virtual, hybrid, and in-person support for students whose arrival to Chennai might be delayed. We are also ready to welcome new families to our community. For more information about the 2021–2022 academic year, including our Raptor Safe measures and the Community Calendar, please click here.

AISC remains focused on its Mission, Core Values, and Vision for the AISC Learner—practicing being courageous and compassionate, appreciating our diversity, and staying resilient.

We continue to be part of a global effort to slow and stop the spread of the Coronavirus, practicing social distancing and isolation in order to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases. We will get through this and we will grow through this together.

We are delighted at the prospect of your family joining our school community and we understand that this is an uncertain time for our families, the world, and for you. Please do not hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to discuss how we can work to best support you and your family during your transition to India and Chennai!

Warm regards,

Dr. Deborah M. Allen
Director of Admissions and Parent/Alumni Relations

P.S. Staying at home can feel very isolating. Here are some tips that our School Counselors and Athletics Department have put together to support our families. I thought you might find them a useful resource. How can we feel happy, healthy, ready to do our best and help others do the same through virtual learning?

Frequently Asked Questions
2021–2022 Academic Year

1My family is moving to Chennai, how can I find out more information about admissions and enrollment at AISC?
Our Admissions Office is here to help all new families! Our timeline for processing applications for the 2020-2021 academic year has not changed. The AISC academic year starts in August and ends in June of the following calendar year. Applicants for admission to AISC are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible (preferably by May 15th); certain grade levels tend to fill up quickly and we recommend applying sooner rather than later.
2When should I submit an application for admission?
There is no set admissions deadline. However, in case that there is a possibility of relocating to Chennai, parents are encouraged to submit all required application documents and payments as soon as possible.
3Can I enroll my child in AISC now?
Yes. AISC has a rolling admissions policy. Students are accepted continuously until the first week of April. Completed applications need to be submitted 4 weeks prior to the desired start date.
4When does the admission of students for the coming school year start?
Application form, along with required supporting documents, may be submitted at any point in time. Complete applications are reviewed beginning in March. Admissions decision will be communicated beginning late March to early April. Applications submitted during a school holiday will be reviewed once school is in session.
5What is the maximum number of students in a classroom?
The maximum number of students in a classroom is twenty (20) and it varies anywhere between 15 and 20, depending on a grade level.
6Can my child leave the school campus during the day?
AISC operates as a closed campus. If your child needs to leave the campus for any reason during the school day please advise the sectional office and Main reception.
7Are meals provided by the school?
Yes. The school cafeteria is open throughout the school day. The cafeteria provides full meals and a la carte lunch options along with drinks and snacks. A la carte items may also be purchased at the i-Hub ( Student Store) near the pool. Payment for food is made using a prepaid school ID card.
8Does AISC offer transportation for students?
Yes, AISC offers a bus service route which, due to geographical challenges in Chennai, may be restricted only to certain neighborhoods. The cost of this service is USD 1,250 per child for the entire year. We will provide door-to-door pick-up service for students, assuming that they live within the scheduled bus route.
9Do you have boarding facilities?
No. AISC is a school for day students. There are no boarding facilities or provisions for students whose parents/guardians live and work outside of Chennai.
10What are the school hours?
School starts at 8:30 a.m and ends at 3:30 p.m.
11Are there school uniforms?
No. Students are expected to be clean and neat while at school or at school-sponsored events. Appropriate standards of dress must take into account the many nationalities and cultures that are represented in the school. Students should be dressed in a manner that is not offensive to general opinion or disruptive to the educational environment. Students are only required to wear a uniform when representing the school while traveling and participating in athletic tournaments, when a uniform is provided.
12Is it possible for my child to receive native language instruction during the school day if I am not a native English speaker?
We have nearly 30 nationalities and are not in a position to provide or facilitate native-language instruction in any language other than English during school hours, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. All instruction is in English. As part of our program, we offer French and Spanish as additional languages only. There are other native language programs delivered on campus, before and after school and on Saturdays, that are not administered by AISC. If your child requires native language instruction from home country educational institutions or government agencies, please inquire with our Admissions Director.
